BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (PIX11) -- All eyes are on the first of November at the Food Bank Network of Somerset County.

Executive Director Steven Katz says 12,000 people in the County rely on SNAP benefits. If the program dries up by November, as the federal government has indicated, food banks may have to go into overdrive.

"I can't emphasize how critical this is," said Katz. "If this were to go beyond a few weeks and beyond November, this is potentially catastrophic.

"We're literally looking at potentially thousands more people in the county who are now going to have to come to a food pantry, to a food bank, for food assistance," Katz continued.
