SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - At least 445 people have died from domestic violence in Iowa since 1995. That’s according to the Iowa Coalition against domestic violence.

Family Crisis Centers (FCC), a nonprofit in Iowa, is bringing attention to victims who have died, wanting to make sure people who are struggling, or their friends and families, have someone to help these people out of a harmful situation.

Barbara is the newest face of the empty chair display. She died in 1989 at the age of 31 from domestic violence.

It was actually her daughter who reached out to FCC and wanted to honor and recognize her mom in this display of empty chairs, representing the people who have died from domestic violence.

The Empty Chair display is an awareness campaign currently on display at Centre Mall in Sioux C
