Ensemble Montréal mayoral candidate Soraya Martinez Ferrada says comments by her main opponent suggesting she represents suburban interests show he wouldn’t work well with Montreal’s neighbours.

Over the weekend, as Projet Montréal mayoral candidate Luc Rabouin announced his priorities for the first 100 days of a potential mandate, he promised to be the “mayor of the 514, not the 450” — referencing the traditional area codes of Montreal Island and of its suburbs, saying he would put the interests of Montrealers first.

But, for Martinez Ferrada, who was living in the 450 when she announced her campaign for mayor of Montreal, those comments were another attempt by her rival to unfairly question her ties to the city.
