PARMA, Ohio -- Parma City Council will hold a public hearing this week on the city’s application for funding to help pay for the development of a new public park at the former Renwood Elementary School site.
The hearing, set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in council chambers at Parma City Hall, is part of the city’s effort to secure additional resources through the Cuyahoga County Community Development Supplemental Grant Program for the project.
The 5-acre site, located in a residential neighborhood, was recently acquired by the city through a land swap with the Parma City School District.
City officials have said the park will preserve the existing playground and provide new green space for residents, in response to speculation that the land would be used for housing development.
