The island of Jamaica is bracing for the impact of Hurricane Melissa.
The Category 5 hurricane is expected to make landfall Tuesday morning, according to NBC Connecticut StormTracker meteorologists.

On Monday around noon, people in Jamaica’s Manchester Parish were starting to see dark skies and consistent rain, while parts of Montego Bay were cloudy and windy.
Dr. Camelia Lawrence, a member of Jamaican American Connection (JAC) in Hamden, said they are staying on top of the hurricane’s trajectory as the organization polishes its response plan.
