FOXBOROUGH, Mass. —

In seven months, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will arrive in Foxborough, Massachusetts, bringing fans from home and abroad to Gillette Stadium.

Seven games are scheduled to be played at Gillette, but there is still some uncertainty about funds from the legislature supporting the event.

The host committee, Boston 26, is set up as a nonprofit and is organizing many of the event's logistics and fanfare.

They requested $20 million from the state to support the games.

So far, the legislature has identified only $10 million. The Senate — zero.
