Iowa (KCRG) - This election season, 41 school bond proposals will appear on ballots across Iowa — many of them in smaller districts throughout Eastern Iowa.
It’s a noticeable jump compared to recent years, as more communities look for ways to keep existing school buildings safe, accessible, and up-to-date.
Across the state, districts say these proposals aren’t about brand-new buildings — they’re about maintaining what they already have. Rising construction costs and limited state funding have left many schools relying on local bond measures to cover the gap.
In Central City, leaders are asking voters to approve a $7 million bond focused on safety and accessibility upgrades.
