CLEVELAND — A FirstEnergy transmission pole caught fire in Wadsworth Monday afternoon, causing a citywide power outage that has persisted into early Tuesday morning, the city said.
According to a press release, early estimates suggested the outage could last up to eight hours or more. At 10:37 p.m., officials confirmed a new pole had been put in place, and by 1:18 a.m., restoration of electricity services was said to be "in process."
Most traffic signals were without power, and motorists were asked to treat intersections with non-working signals as a four-way stop. All 911 and non-emergency telephone lines are working normally, as are water and sewer systems.
Wadsworth officials say updates will be shared as soon as FirstEnergy provides new information. The fire that caused the outage
