STAMFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - A Stamford man has been arrested for a hit and run crash that killed a 12-year-old boy.
Dolan Middle School student Brisly Reyes was killed on Aug. 2nd while riding a minibike on Courtland Avenue.
Police say Reyes and a family member, who was riding a scooter, had pulled out of the travel lane and over to the shoulder of Courtland Avenue for an unknown reason.
As they were sitting on the side of the road, 41-year-old Juan Carlos Umana-Umana’s 2004 Honda Accord struck Reyes, causing him to thrown from the minibike and into someone’s yard.
Umana-Umana fled the scene, according to police.
After an investigation that resulted in an arrest warrant being signed for Umana-Umana, Umana-Umana turned himself in to Stamford Police Headquarters today.
