ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita is fighting back after a St. Joseph County judge dismissed the lawsuit he filed against Sheriff Bill Redman and the St. Joseph County Police Department for alleged failure to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The attorney general’s office tells WNDU 16 News Now it has filed an appeal of the dismissal, saying its “claims are strong” and that it will “continue to seek legal remedy for the sheriff’s clear violations of state law.”
The civil suit was first filed by Rokita back in January . Sheriff Redman filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit a couple of months later.
