HAMMOND, La. —

Louisiana State Police are investigating a deadly crash involving a pedestrian.

The crash happened early Monday morning on Interstate 55 near LA Hwy 40 in Tangipahoa Parish. Advertisement

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling northbound on I-55 in the left lane.

At the same time, a pedestrian was walking northbound in the left lane of I-55.

The pedestrian was hit by the Hyundai and then hit by a freight truck before emergency personnel arrived on the scene.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene. The drivers of the other two cars were not injured.

The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

This is an ongoing investigation.
