CALDWELL, Texas (KBTX) - Nearly two years after a massive fire destroyed the 130-year-old New Tabor Brethren Church, the congregation broke ground Sunday on a new building.

The historic church off County Road 225 caught fire in January 2024. After hours of work by firefighters, only the fellowship hall remained standing, along with a few salvaged items including photos and a Bible from 1732.

This Sunday, nearly 2 years after the building caught fire, members of the congregation filled the parking and brought shovels for the groundbreaking ceremony.
