Belleville city council voted to dismantle its longstanding Cultural Exchange Committee which has overseen twin city visits to and from Lahr, Germany and Gunpo Korea for decades.
Coun. Barb Enright-Miller asked during Monday’s meeting if discontinuing the exchange committee “mean forever and ever or are we just not filling the positions?”

Mayor Neil Ellis replied, “the last cultural exchanges have been run out of the mayor’s office and the CAO’s office rather than the committee and that’s how we want to do it moving forward.”
