Update: Wheelsports park

Council received an update on the multiphase design process for the city’s new wheelsports park during its work session. The park will be built on approximately 10 acres of land at 425 Airport Road, adjacent to the Greenville Downtown Airport. It will consist of a skatepark, a pump track and a bicycle playground.

Calin Owens, a capital projects manager with the city, explained that the park’s design process has been guided by public feedback and community stakeholder input. Three preliminary design concepts were recently presented during a public meeting in September. The design team’s original intent was for elements of each concept to be pulled together for a hybrid design.
