The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling to their practice squad, according to multiple reports. It is expected he will start on the practice squad before being elevated from there and earning playing time.
Pittsburgh tried to sign him in August, but he chose the San Francisco 49ers instead.
After an injury, he landed on injured reserve and was released. Now, the Steelers will try to get him acclimated into the offense and add another playmaker to the group.
Valdes-Scantling, 30, played for two teams last season, the Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints. Across both teams, he had 19 catches for 411 yards and four touchdowns. A big play threat, Valdes-Scantling averaged 21.6 yards per reception.
