The Indiana Pacers are planning to waive former Warriors No. 2 overall draft pick James Wiseman to sign guard Mac McClung, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Monday, citing sources.
The anticipated move by the Pacers comes as the team tries to manage several injuries at the guard position. It would be McClung's first standard NBA contract after playing multiple seasons in the NBA G-League. The three-time NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner also played for the Warriors on an Exhibit 9 contract during the 2022 NBA preseason before he was released in October of that year.
Wiseman, drafted by the Warriors in 2020, played in just one game for the Pacers this season. He tallied four points, four rebounds and a block in 20 minutes in Indiana’s 128-103 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.
