PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The Trump administration has admitted that some of the numbers they used in previous arguments about deploying National Guard troops to Portland were wrong, according to a new letter filed as a federal trial approaches Wednesday.
Previously, Trump’s lawyers said that 115 federal officers had to be deployed to Portland to protect the ICE facility. They said it was nearly a quarter of the entire force.
But now they are walking it back, saying only 65 inspectors had been deployed, and not all at once. They say that is only 13% of the force.
Lawyers for Oregon and Portland said in their own briefings that this represented factual errors on statistics that were central to the appellate court’s initial finding.
