BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) — Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy kicked off his campaign for re-election Monday evening.

Cassidy was elected sheriff in 2018 and re-elected in 2022.

Speaking to News Channel 11, Cassidy pointed out his and his agency's accomplishments over the years, including building a new jail, placing SROs in schools, investigating the Megan Boswell murder case, enhancing the department's technology, and reducing unserved process.

"I'm looking to have another four years of success and progression for the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office and the safety of the citizens of Sullivan County," Cassidy said.

The sheriff said the new jail, which will have 784 beds, will allow the agency to offer more programs to rehabilitate inmates and reduce recidivism.
