PIERCE CITY, Mo. (KY3) - Two people died in a house fire Saturday night in Pierce City, with investigators looking into whether a space heater caused the blaze.
The fire happened around 8:30 p.m. on Myrtle Street, leaving little of the structure remaining.
Pierce City police said the official cause remains under investigation, but a space heater is believed to be responsible.
“We’d been told by some of the family and friends that they were trying to get their heating situation figured out,” said Pierce City Police Chief Steven Norman. “I think that they were trying to get some of that figured out, and they were incorporating some of these space heaters.”
