OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) - The Ocean Springs School District is making room for fourth graders at Pecan Park and Oak Elementary Schools.

This is all a part of a $52 million school bond initiative passed by the Ocean Springs Community this past March, for the school district to make upgrades and improvements to its campuses.

Oak Park Elementary principal Stewart Smirthwaite says this expansion involves adding more classrooms to make room for fourth-grade students.

“I think it’s very appropriate to have fourth grade here with our K through three. I think it’s gonna have a lot of value to this school in our community,” Smirthwaite said. “I’m grateful for the vision of the school district. We had 87% of our citizens vote for this bond.”
