HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecasters released Thursday their wet season outlook for the upcoming winter .
The wet season, which runs from October through April, comes after what is considered the third driest dry season in the last 30 years (summer 2010 was the driest).
A weak La Nina is currently in effect globally, which means an enhanced chance for above-normal rainfall totals during the wet season in Hawaii.
With La Nina expected to persist through the winter, NOAA says we’re likely to see “above normal rainfall through early spring 2026, with the greatest probabilities over the northwestern half of the state.”
Conditions could potentially return to neutral in spring of 2026, NOAA said.
