A South Carolina man convicted of an armed robbery at a gas station in Elkhart was sentenced this week.

20-year-old Cameron Bond committed the crime in 2021 when he was just 16. Prosecutors say he pointed a gun at two people pumping gas at a Meijer Gas Station and stole their car and phones.

The vehicle was later recovered in South Bend, with DNA linking Bond to the crime. Bond’s attorney and mother told the court his ADHD and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder impaired his judgment.

The Goshen News says he was sentenced to 12 years, with seven suspended on probation, which will be transferred to South Carolina.
