QUINCY — After more than 50 years of service to the public in a variety of roles, Barry Cheyne submitted his resignation to the Quincy City Council, to be effective following the council's acceptance at Monday's meeting.
Cheyne currently serves as a member and chair of the city's Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, responsible for hiring, promoting, and discipline for members of both the Quincy Fire Department and Quincy Police Department.
"After 52 years of military, federal, and now service to my city, it’s truly been an honor and privilege to serve on the Fire and Police Commission," Cheyne said.
