MANTECA, Calif. —

Manteca police are investigating the death of 5-month-old Christian , who was found unconscious at a licensed home daycare last Wednesday and later died at a local hospital.

"We hear about this happening all the time, and you never think it's going to happen to you," said Erica Valdivia, Christian’s aunt. "Our family received a call that Christian had stopped breathing and was being taken to a local hospital."

Manteca Police Officer Steven Beermann reported that an adult in the house was performing CPR when emergency services arrived.

"Manteca fire and the ambulance took over. We're able to get a pulse and brought the child to a local hospital," Beermann said.

"We were praying that in that situation that God had a grace on Christian and didn't allow him to suffer,"
