A motorcyclist died following a high-speed pursuit that began when authorities attempted to stop the person in Pam Desert late Saturday, Oct. 25.
Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station deputies attempted to stop the motorcyclist in the area of Highway 111 and Deep Canyon Road, Palm Desert, at 11:29 p.m., according to the Palm Desert station. The attempted stop, authorities said, was over a vehicle code violation and for reported suspicion of driving under the influence.
The motorcyclist fled at a “high rate of speed,” according to authorities. It caused a pursuit that ended in the area of Country Club Drive at John Sinn Road in Rancho Mirage when the person drove through a red light and collided with a vehicle in the intersection.
