IDAHO, USA — Voters in the Bruneau-Grand View Joint School District will decide Nov. 4 whether to close Bruneau Elementary School , a nearly 70-year-old building.
The ballot question asks whether the Board of Trustees should be authorized to permanently close Bruneau Elementary School. Voters will vote in favor or against discontinuing the elementary school.
The discontinuation needs a simple majority to pass.
Some residents argue it's not fiscally responsible to keep the school open, while others say it's the heart of Bruneau.
"It's the hub of our community," said Sherry Colyer, a former school board member and longtime Bruneau resident. "My husband went to it. Our children, our grandchildren, and that's the same for many people in this community."
