BLOOMINGTON ( 25News Now ) - A civilian board which reviews citizens’ complaints about Bloomington Police is facing criticism about its effectiveness.

However, the Public Safety and Community Relations Board is still doing its job, the Bloomington city manager said.

The nine-member board reviews how complaints against police are handled and the board can recommend policy changes.

The latest case, filed by a Bloomington resident, had been waiting for some time after a series of meeting cancellations and procedural delays.

Bloomington City Manager Jeff Jurgens said while meetings were delayed due to quorum issues in which a majority of board members could not attend, the panel remains committed to transparency and oversight.
