Several customers were surprised when they walked into a College Park, Maryland, Shoppers grocery store to only be met with nearly empty shelves.

The College Park location, along with three others in Laurel, Capitol Heights and Germantown, will be closing in November. A sign outside reads "We're sorry, this store is permanently closing on 11/8."

"I walked in and was like 'What's going on?'" One customer said Monday night in College Park.

Another customer described the store as "pretty dead" and another customer called the closure "a shame."

Prince George's County Council member Eric Olson said the closures come as a disappointment and a shock.
