DAMARISCOTTA, Maine — Maine Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner has paused his apologizing for a pair of controversies two that emerged in the past 10 days—over his old social media posts and an old tattoo.
The 41-year-old oyster farmer, military veteran, and first-time candidate from rural Hancock County, continues to draw throngs of the curious and enthusiastic to his town halls, as he did Monday evening in the mid-coast town of Damariscotta.
Platner packed a school gym—folding chairs for 200, another 300 stood—a typical crowd for his town hall tour since launching his candidacy in mid-August. This was stop number 26.
