A dry Tuesday with mostly clear skies will give way to widespread soaking rainfall beginning late Wednesday and continuing through Thursday night across central Pennsylvania.

The National Weather Service in State College forecasts rainfall totals between 1.5 and 2 inches for most areas Wednesday-Thursday.

Rain will begin spreading northward Wednesday afternoon, primarily affecting areas along and south of the Pennsylvania Turnpike first. The heaviest precipitation is expected Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Thursday will bring gusty winds in addition to continued rainfall , with speeds of 20 to 30 mph expected across the region and gusts up to 35 mph possible in the higher terrain of the Alleghenies.
