An SNP MP has been accused of "hypocrisy" by one of her former colleagues at Westminster in a row over social media abuse. ‌

Kirsty Blackman said today politicians were especially vulnerable to online hate - and the problem was deterring young women from considering a career in politics. ‌

But Joanna Cherry accused the MP for Aberdeen North of being an "active participant" in her own houding on social media. ‌

Blackman told the BBC that "female candidates were twice as likely to be threatened".

She added: "We saw a huge number of MPs and candidates threatened during the course of the election. We saw that female candidates were twice as likely to be threatened and ethnic minority candidates were three times as likely to be threatened.
