OMAHA, Neb. —

The Latino Center of the Midlands (LCM) is holding a groundbreaking on Tuesday for a $10 million expansion. The project will nearly double their footprint in the heart of South Omaha.

The nonprofit says this expansion reflects the growing Latino community. The renovation will expand current facilities, featuring modernized classrooms, community youth and adult rooms, a teaching kitchen, among so much more.

The $10 million expansion is funded by the North and South Omaha Recovery Grant program (NSORG).

"The Latino Center has long been a cornerstone in our community, and this expansion ensures its impact will only grow stronger for generations to come," Omaha Mayor John Ewing Jr. said.

The groundbreaking is Tuesday at LCM headquarters, near S. 24 and N streets at 4:30 p.m.
