8th Pay Commission Likely To Be Implemented By 1 January, 2026 Latest News: The Union Cabinet of the BJP-led NDA government has approved the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the 8th Central Pay Commission on Tuesday, according to reports.
The commission, headed by former Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, will revise the salaries of nearly 50 lakh central government employees.
Reports citing I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the commission will submit its recommendations within 18 months and is likely to be implemented from January 1, 2026.
The commission will also revise the allowances of about 69 lakh pensioners.
