3CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. – A North Carolina State Capitol Police officer was arrested Sunday after allegedly firing a gun and threatening his neighbors during a confrontation outside his home, according to the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say 39-year-old Steven Stell faces multiple misdemeanor charges after witnesses reported gunfire and shouting in a residential area.

Authorities allege Stell discharged a pistol into the ground while yelling that he was going to kill nearby residents, sparking panic among neighbors and prompting several 911 calls.
