WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Westfield resident captured video of a black bear in their yard on Monday.

The video, sent to 22News, shows the bear walking throughout the yard. You can hear the resident say, "Hello, Mr. Bear," while noticing how close he was coming to them. If you can safely take videos or photos of wildlife in your neighborhood, you can send them to reportit@wwlp.com!

According to Mass.gov, bears are omnivores, which means that they eat both vegetation and meat. In the spring, bears feed on lush, green emerging plants and are often seen in wetlands. In the summertime, they take advantage of ripening berries and can often be found in thick regenerating forest stands where berries are often found. Bears also eat grubs and insects, dead animals, and occasionally young deer.
