SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The civil trial of former Springfield mayoral aide Darryl Moss against the city and Mayor Domenic Sarno continued on Tuesday, with the jury now deliberating the verdict.

Moss, who served as an aide for 12 years, was terminated in 2020 following a social media post during the peak of the Black Lives Matter movement. He claims the post was misinterpreted and has filed a lawsuit alleging wrongful termination and racial discrimination.

"We're suing for retaliation and race discrimination, and the damages will be anywhere from $100,000 to five million dollars," said Robert Johnson, the attorney representing Moss.
