EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Thousands of eighth graders are diving into hands-on career experiences this week at Junior Achievement's annual JobSpark event.

The event is taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 29, at Old National Events Plaza from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Junior Achievement's JobSpark brings together more than 5,000 students, 400 volunteers, and 70 businesses.

The event is designed to spark an interest in students and get them excited about their future, said organizers. They will explore high-demand industries and learn the skills required for careers that will be relevant when they graduate.

Due to the increased volume of students and staff for the JobSpark event, Evansville police are urging drivers to be careful when traveling downtown.
