HARDIN COUNTY, Kentucky — Western Hardin County residents are waiting up to 45 minutes for emergency management services (EMS) when 911 is called.
The county says conversations to bring in an additional ambulance began during the West Hardin Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) merger process this year.
The Hardin County Fiscal Court has approved a 40-hour, part-time ambulance, but has not yet decided on its location.
That decision lies in the hands of Hardin County Judge/Executive Keith Taul.
The West Hardin VFD raised $25,000 of its money to convert and upgrade its station to include living quarters to support and house an EMS crew on its site. They also offered to provide a bay for an ambulance.
An agreement between the county government and the fire department now needs to be signed to
