An e-bike rider has today admitted killing a 91-year-old pedestrian who died three months after a collision outside his home.

Clifford Cage had originally pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter of great-grandfather James Blackwood but has now, during a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court, accepted responsibility for the former Royal Engineer's death.

The 50-year-old was on an electric bicycle when he struck Mr Blackwood on the pavement in City Way, Rochester, on July 6, 2023.

The married pensioner, who had been putting his bins out for collection at the time, was taken to hospital but died three months later on October 13.
