A Longueuil resident charged with murdering his neighbour earlier this year apparently slipped through many cracks in the system created by government organizations designed to protect the public before the victim was killed inside his own home in January.

On Tuesday during a hearing at the Longueuil courthouse, Quebec Superior Court Justice Hélène Di Salvo was asked to decide whether Guy Durocher, 69, should be found not criminally responsible for his actions when his neighbour Patrick Synnott was killed on Jan. 8.
