A 33-year-old woman arrested by Longueuil police, hours after a baby found abandoned in a Longueuil bus shelter was declared dead in a hospital , has been released from police custody on several conditions including that she will reappear in court.
Longueuil police spokesperson Marie Beauvais-Lavoie said there could be charges in connection with the infant’s death, but for now she remains in medical care.
“For now, the focus is on services tailored to her psychological and medical condition,” she said.
Police were informed of the baby’s presence in the bus shelter on Chambly Rd. near Briggs St. E. by a 911 call made around 6 a.m. Monday.
