CLEVELAND, Ohio --The grounds of Cleveland Public Theatre will transform into a colorful, reverent, and joy-filled graveyard on Saturday, Nov. 1, as the 21st Annual Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) Festival fills the Gordon Square neighborhood with music, art, food and remembrance.

Although its name may sound somber, Día de Muertos is anything but. The centuries-old celebration is rooted in Aztec and other Indigenous traditions, honors the cycle of life and death while emphasizing love, memory and joy.

From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., visitors can explore handmade altars (ofrendas), join a parade of skulls and skeletons, and celebrate loved ones who have passed.
