Authorities have identified the man who is accused of fatally shooting an Inland Empire deputy before crashing his motorcycle while trying to elude capture.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department told KTLA's Lauren Lyster that 47-year-old Angelo Jose Saldivar of San Bernardino was the person who fatally shot Deputy Andrew Nunez on Monday.

Saldivar, whose motorcycle crashed after it was hit by another vehicle during a high-speed police pursuit, is currently hospitalized but will be booked for murder upon his release, the Sheriff's Department added.

Nunez responded to reported domestic violence in Rancho Cucamonga Monday afternoon, though when he arrived to the 12300 block of Hollyhock Drive, the suspect — later identified as Saldivar — allegedly opened fire immediately.
