Pat Narduzzi’s latest “commit signal” on social media wasn’t a mystery for long. Less than 24 hours later, the answer arrived.
Merritt Island (Fla.) quarterback Kevin Verpaele has committed to Pittsburgh, giving the Panthers a key piece early in their 2027 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound signal-caller received his offer from Pitt back in June after impressing offensive coordinator Kade Bell during a summer prospect camp. Bell has been selective with quarterback offers in the 2027 cycle, making Verpaele’s addition even more notable. After earning the offer, Verpaele stayed in touch with the staff and made a return trip to campus earlier this month for the Boston College game, where he witnessed Mason Heintschel’s 323-yard, four-touchdown debut in Pitt’s 48-7 win.
