A family in Scotland is grappling with more devastating news after additional remains of a 71-year-old woman were found three years after she disappeared while walking her dog.

On Saturday, Oct. 11, around 12:25 p.m. local time, authorities received a report of potential human remains that were found on the bank of the River Don near the village of Kemnay in Garioch, Aberdeenshire, Police Scotland told PEOPLE in a statement.
