A Maryland man linked to a global sexual exploitation ring is facing a host of child porn charges, authorities announced.
Linthicum Heights resident Philip Andrew Turner, 46, was arrested in Anne Arundel County following an investigation into the production and possession of child pornography, according to state police on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
Beginning in 2024, officials said that Homeland Security Investigators in Maryland began identifying individuals connected to the sexual trafficking of children in the Philippines.
Investigators said that the identified traffickers were utilizing various online platforms for the purpose of allowing purchasing parties to virtually direct the sexual exploitation of minors through a live camera feed.
According to Maryland State Police, Turner was identified as a suspect, and a review of his devices revealed numerous virtual engagements, in which he directed girls between the ages of 10 and 13 to participate in child pornography in the Philippines and around the globe.
Turner was arrested on Oct. 28 and charged with:
- Seven counts of sexual solicitation of a minor;
- Production of child pornography;
- Five counts of possession of child pornography;
- Other related offenses.
He was taken to the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Anne Arundel County, where police say he is awaiting an initial appearance.
