A former Michigan High School Athletic Association soccer referee is facing a misdemeanor charge following an incident that occurred during a Gaylord boys varsity soccer state playoff game earlier this month.
Randall Smith, 64, is being charged with assault and battery, according to a story done by The Petoskey News-Review , and if found guilty, could face a fine up to $500 and a maximum of 93 days in jail.
The incident, which can be viewed in the video below, occurred during overtime of an MHSAA boys soccer district semifinal between Gaylord and Traverse City Central at the Keystone Soccer Complex in Traverse City on Oct 14.
