BURLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — One person died in an early Friday morning fire at the Overlook Trailer Village that was caused by a natural gas furnace, according to Idaho State Fire Marshal Knute Sandahl.
Investigators have not determined whether the furnace sustained mechanical failure or if combustible materials were placed too close to the unit.
Two occupants escaped the fire. One person escaped through a back door and another jumped out of a window, but the person who died was found by the front door, Sandahl told KMVT.
The fire quickly spread to other units. One home was destroyed and another was deemed uninhabitable. Multiple vehicles were also destroyed.
No other fatalities or injuries have been reported, but 16 residents lost their homes. The Red Cross and the Burley Firefighte
