GOODING, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — According to the City of Gooding Public Works Director Larry Bybee, the average lifespan of a sewer line is 50 years. In the city, many of their lines are 50 years or older.

Work is about to get underway to replace the lines along 8th Avenue West between Idaho and Utah streets, and it’s all covered by American Rescue Plan Act funds.

“In 2023, we were awarded a $13.8 million dollar grant through the Department of Environmental Quality, utilizing ARPA funds,” Bybee said.

Bybee said they used a portion of the money to do surveys and preparation work, and now they’re finally able to start replacing the sewer lines and other infrastructure.
