While the Calgary Flames have had serious troubles scoring this season, it’s been quite the opposite for their AHL affiliate.

The Calgary Wranglers, who have a 2-2-2 record on the season, are averaging 3.33 goals per game through their first six outings. What makes it all the more exciting is that plenty of that offence has come from young prospects.

Leading the charge is 19-year-old Matvei Gridin, who cracked the Flames roster out of training camp but was re-assigned to the AHL after four games. He’s since suited up for four games with the Wranglers, during which time he’s racked up three goals and seven points.

Gridin is currently tied for 14th amongst all AHL skaters in points, and is second to all Wranglers aside from Dryden Hunt, who has managed two goals and eight points on the
